PCR-CIT China Chengdu Valves(PCCV)

Conference Background and Introduction

【Background】

Transcatheter heart valve therapy (THVT) has recently emerged as an established field in clinical practice for patients deemed inoperable or at high risk for surgical valve replacement. However, the development of THVT in mainland China and the Asia-Pacific region is still lagging behind that in Europe and USA.

PCR has been helping the cardiovascular community to share knowledge, experience and practice; it has successfully guided and promoted TAVI stretching from Europe to the West. Particularly, PCR London Valves, which represents its industries highest level of academic conferences, provides high-quality and practical technique training for interventional cardiologists. CIT is the largest interventional cardiology conference and one of the most educational teaching courses in Asia Pacific region; it shares many common principal values and visions with PCR.

The Department of Cardiology at West China Hospital was among the first to initiate the project of THVT in mainland China, and has gained some unique experience in this area, particularly in terms of transcatheter aortic valve implantation. To promote the development of THVT in mainland China and the Asia-Pacific region and establish an interactive academic exchange platform in the theme of THVT, the Department of Cardiology at West China Hospital has decided to host the conference of PCR-CIT China Chengdu Valves (PCCV) in collaboration with PCR and CIT. In line with the mission of PCR, PCCV aims at facilitating the cardiovascular community to share knowledge, experience, and practice for the welfare of our patients.

Through the collaboration with PCR , CIT and the department of cardiology of West China Hospital, PCCV will hopefully be recognized internationally as one of the highest and most influential academic conferences on THVT in the Asia-Pacific region in the near future.

【Introduction】

1. Goals and Objectives

The primary objectives of the PCCV course are to provide practical training on transcatheter heart valve therapy, especially on transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), in mainland China and the Asia-Pacific region, to teach and improve physicians to use this technology for the benefit of patients in the region. The course also aims at establishing an interactive academic exchange platform between Asian and Western physicians. In between three to five years, it aims to be recognized internationally as the highest academic and educational conferences on TAVI in the Asia-Pacific region.

2. Conference Contents

Because TAVI is still relatively new for interventional cardiologists in mainland China, so the first edition of PCR-CIT China Chengdu Valves (PCCV) will focus on LIVE case demonstrations, basic hands-on training, case-based discussions, and lectures on the basic concepts and latest updates of TAVI. We will also include a dedicated imaging workshop and heart team forum in the meeting.

3. When And Where

The PCCV course is designed for cardiologists who are planning to initiate TAVI project in their institutions or who have been dedicated to this field. Nevertheless, any doctor who is interested in TAVI and wants to learn the procedure or get updated with the latest advances is welcome to attend this meeting.
